III Migration Forum. Estonia is in a need of an analysis model for the fiscal impact of migration

At yesterday’s migration forum of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences Centre for Migration Research it was discussed about how migration influences the state treasury. After taking into consideration the studies carried out by the UK and the OECD, it was concluded that migration today is contributing into the increase of a state’s welfare. In order to measure the fiscal impact of migration in Estonia, we need our own model of analysis.

European border guard managers will be taught in Estonia

Yesterday, on European Day for Border Guards, Lauri Tabur, rector of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences signed a cooperation agreement with the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union FRONTEX, in Warsaw. The cooperation results in the EASS and five other institutions of higher education in Europe start offering master level studies for border guard managers from the countries already in the EU and from those that are yet to become members. The aim of the uniform curriculum implemented in six institutions of higher education in five countries is to give border guard managers from all the member states an opportunity to acquire more practical and theoretical knowledge of the very different aspects of modern European border guarding.
