Research Groups

There are currently seven research groups at the Academy:

Fire safety engineering research group

  • The leader of the Research Group: professor Helmo Käerdi;
  • Members of the Group: Alar Valge, Kadi Luht, prof. Feliks Angelstok, Margaret Leis, Martin Lambing, Leonid Pahhutchi and Anneli Ambel.

The research group of fire safety engineering is a form of academic cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to present and publish a scientifically reasoned analyses and research findings, on the appropriateness of fire safety engineering.
 

The research group of the relationships between better legislative drafting and internal security

  • The leader of the Research Group: Aare Kasemets;
  • Members of the Group: Ero Liivik, Annika Talmar

The research group of the relationships between better legislative drafting and internal security is an academic form of cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to provide scientifically-reasoned research and publish the results of the links of the legislative process and the legitimacy of the law with the field of internal security.
 

The research group of Europeanization of internal security

  • The leader of the Research Group: Ramon Loik;
  • Members of the Group: Marek Link, Viljar Veebel, Erkki Hämäläinen

The research group of Europeanization of internal security is an academic form of cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to provide and publish scientifically substantiated findings in the contemporary problems of internal security and the law enforcement field, including internationalization of internal security education, to intensify academic cooperation in the field of international internal security and to provide scientific research-based assessments, recommendations and suggestions for knowledge-based development of the field of internal security in the environment of international cooperation.

The output of the work of the research group is a scientific publication indexed with the classification of 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1 or 6.2 the Estonian Research Information System (ETIS).

 

Criminalistics and criminology research group

  • The leader of the Research Group: professor Jaan Huik;
  • Members of the Group: Timo Kyntäjä, Annika Lall, Raivo Öpik, Riina Kroonberg, Kalju Leppik, Uno Traat, Silvia Kaugia.

The research group of criminalistics and criminology is a form of academic cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to present and publish a scientifically reasoned analyses and research findings. 

Research group of localization of MITI (motivational interviewing)

  • The leader of the Research Group: Inga Karton;
  • Members of the Group: Eva-Maria Kangro, Kärolin Šults, Ulvi Uulimaa-Margus, Raili Juurikas, Tõnu Jürjen, Helena Väljaste, Elina Malleus, Ray Gingerich.

Research group of risk management and protection of the population

  • Members of the Group: prof. Kalev Sepp, prof. Piia Tint, prof. Andres Talvari, Margus Möldri, Alar Valge, Kadi Luht, Tarmo Kull
