There are currently seven research groups at the Academy:
The research group of fire safety engineering is a form of academic cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to present and publish a scientifically reasoned analyses and research findings, on the appropriateness of fire safety engineering.
The research group of the relationships between better legislative drafting and internal security is an academic form of cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to provide scientifically-reasoned research and publish the results of the links of the legislative process and the legitimacy of the law with the field of internal security.
The research group of Europeanization of internal security is an academic form of cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to provide and publish scientifically substantiated findings in the contemporary problems of internal security and the law enforcement field, including internationalization of internal security education, to intensify academic cooperation in the field of international internal security and to provide scientific research-based assessments, recommendations and suggestions for knowledge-based development of the field of internal security in the environment of international cooperation.
The output of the work of the research group is a scientific publication indexed with the classification of 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1 or 6.2 the Estonian Research Information System (ETIS).
The research group of criminalistics and criminology is a form of academic cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to present and publish a scientifically reasoned analyses and research findings.
The research group of MITI is a form of academic cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to present and publish a scientifically reasoned analyses and research findings.
The research group of risk management and protection of the population is an academic form of cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to provide and publish scientifically substantiated findings.
The research group of fire and rescue service risk analysis is a form of academic cooperation, under the responsibility of the Vice Rector of Research and Development, which aims to present and publish a scientifically reasoned analyses and research findings.
