The new building of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences was designed by architecture bureau Arhitekt11 Ltd. The new building is situated in Kase 61, Tallinn. The contemporary and energy efficient building will accommodate most of the curricula as it is up to three levels above the ground. The building will house study rooms, auditoriums, and offices. There is also an indoor shooting gallery, virtual simulation centre, fire safety laboratory, prison imitation environment, and other special premises specific to the studies. The sports complex will include a full-size hall for ballgames, a gym, and the mat halls required for hand-to-hand combat trainings. The gross surface area of the building will be 12,069 m2.
The energy consumption of the new building will be approximately four times lower than that of the previous one. All energy-saving methods, which are capable to build, have been included in the design of the building, including even distribution of indoor air based on the double façade principle and a heat recovery ventilation system. A geothermal heating system will be built for heating of the building and for cooling in the summer season.
