Cooperation
The Estonian Academy of Security Sciences engages in cooperation both nationally and internationally.
Advisory Bodies
To involve key stakeholders, the Academy has an Advisory Council. This consultative body connects the Academy, the responsible ministries, and society at large. It submits proposals and provides assessments on the development of the Academy, including issues related to curricula. Proposals are submitted to the Governing Council, the Minister of the Interior, and the Minister of Education and Research.
Each college and the Internal Security Institute also have Councils. These bodies bring together partner institutions in their respective fields to support development, organise cooperation, and submit proposals on issues concerning the college or institute. More detailed information can be found in the section “About the Academy and Governance.”
National and International Networks
The Academy participates in various national and international working groups, professional networks, and the activities of international organisations.
We cooperate with more than 30 educational institutions in the field of internal security across Europe, including through CEPOLi, FRONTEXi and eu-LISA We also contribute more broadly to the development of internal security by taking part in international organisations and networks such as the OSCE and DCAF.
International Agreements and Mobility
The Academy has 54 international cooperation agreements and 38 bilateral Erasmus+ agreements, enabling cooperation and mobility for students, lecturers, and administrative staff.
A significant part of our international cooperation consists of academic mobility, involving students, lecturers, and staff of the Academy, as well as students and academics from partner universities. To support the internationalisation of studies, the Academy is developing an international module and actively participates in the Erasmus+ programme.
The Value of Cooperation
Extensive cooperation at both the national and international level enables the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences to support the development of internal security while better addressing the needs of society and partners in shaping the Academy’s activities.
