Information for Readers
Books can be borrowed by persons registered readers — the Academy's students, staff, alumni, and staff of partner organisations. Registration as a reader is based on a valid identity document and a document proving a legal relationship with the Academy.
Anyone is welcome to use library materials on site.
Students are registered as readers during matriculation. Staff and partner-organisation staff can register here.
NB! A valid ID card serving as a library card must be presented every time the library is used.
- Students, alumni, and partner-organisation staff: 100 days
- Academy staff: 365 days
An automatic notice about an approaching due date is sent 5 days before the deadline to the email address given in the registration form.
To renew a loan, log in to the Academy's ESTER system or contact the library. Renewal is only possible before the due date.
If an item is not returned by its due date, the reader loses their borrowing rights.
Readers may order books or articles from other libraries through the library. Both originals and article copies can be ordered. Originals are sent at the library's expense; return shipping is at the requester's expense.
Fill out the order form here.
Readers may propose literature for the library to acquire. Purchases are made primarily in line with the Academy's teaching and research areas.
Fill out the suggestion form here.
Databases and Environments
A list of the Academy's student theses can be found HERE.
Student theses can be found in the ESTER e-catalogue. E-theses can be found on the DIGIRIIUL.
Theses may also be read on site in the library. To do so, send a request (gu@sisek) with the relevant thesis details at least 1 working day in advance.
Military specialty (1996–1999) and border guard specialty (1996–2000) theses are located in the Estonian Military Academy's e-learning portal ILIAS.
Access-restricted theses are those intended for internal use only or containing state secrets; these may only be viewed on site. Disclosure of a thesis, or its contents, to third parties is not permitted without the Academy's authorization, and users must ensure the protection of information classified as internal.
To access a restricted-access thesis, an application must be completed and sent for digital signature to the director of the relevant college or institute. The digitally signed application should be sent to gu@sisek.
The ESTER e-catalogue is the shared catalogue of Estonia's largest libraries. It also contains data on items held in university college and specialized libraries.
