Virtual roundtable „The Ukrainian War and the Belarusian Crises: threats and challenges to the security of the Baltic States“

Ukraina war

The Internal Security Institute of the EASS will organize a virtual roundtable on 14 December 2022 entitled "The Ukrainian War and the Belarusian Crises: Threats and Challenges to the Security of the Baltic States".

The Russian-Ukrainian War and growing tensions in the post-Soviet space are signs of the return of geopolitical thinking. Russia’s revanchist policies, as well as its growing number of hybrid offensives, pose a serious threat to neighbouring countries. The Baltic States will gain main security guarantees by participating in transatlantic and EU-level security cooperation. At the same time, regional cooperation and knowledge of the conditions and experiences of neighboring countries will enhance a nation's resilience and deterrence capabilities.

The seminar will discuss the impact of the conflict in Ukraine and Belarus' border crisis on the Baltic states. In addition, experiences and options for managing security threats will be discussed.
